Free and open to the public, the weekly events kick off in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by Local Roots \u2014 co-owned by islanders Jean Baer and Betsy Ventura \u2014 the market features a different mix of vendors and products, as well as crafters, prepared meals and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal was to create a local weekly gathering place where people can enjoy fresh products, support small businesses and experience the charm of Captiva in one spot,\u201d Ventura said of the island event.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that this season was stronger than the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou could really tell that the island has made huge progress from the damages of three hurricanes,\u201d Ventura said.<\/p>\n<p>About 25 vendors are participating in the market this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have fresh organic produce, local seafood, cheese, honey, breads, pastries, prepared gourmet food to take home, organic pressed juices, made-to-order crepes, pizza, cuban sandwiches, tacos, guacamole, arts and crafts, and so much more,\u201d she said. \u201cSomething for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Local crafters and artisans are also taking part again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love to give shoppers a taste of local color, so we include a few artists and crafters in the market each season,\u201d Ventura said. \u201cJean and I believe it adds to the market experience by bringing in handmade, one-of-a-kind items that reflect Southwest Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, different nonprofits and organizations are offered booth space every week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy to let the Captiva library join us throughout the season at no charge because they provide a valuable service to the community,\u201d she said of one local participant. \u201cIt\u2019s a way for us to support local education, outreach, while helping residents and visitors learn about our wonderful library.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of Baer and herself, Ventura shared appreciation for the community\u2019s support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to be thankful to our host, South Seas resort,\u201d she said. \u201cWithout them allowing us space to operate, I don\u2019t think we would exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJean and I also would like to give a shout out to the entire Sanibel-Captiva community, the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office officers and the Captiva Island Fire Control District for their support,\u201d Ventura added.<\/p>\n<p>The public is invited to swing by for the final market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome out and enjoy the last market of the season,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great chance to stock up on your favorite market goodies, grab some breakfast or lunch, and pick up some unique finds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parking is located across the street.<\/p>\n<p>Pet owners are welcome to bring their family pooches.<\/p>\n<p>As for next season, the market will begin in November.<\/p>\n<p>Applications will open on the website by June for participants interested in the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to apply, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buylocallee.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.buylocallee.com\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also organized by Local Roots, the Sanibel Island Farmers Market will continue through May.<\/p>\n<p>The Shops at South Seas is at 14830 Captiva Drive, Captiva.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>IF YOU GO<\/p>\n<p>What<\/p>\n<p>Captiva Island Farmers Market<\/p>\n<p>Who<\/p>\n<p>Local Roots<\/p>\n<p>When<\/p>\n<p>Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (November through April)<\/p>\n<p>Where<\/p>\n<p>The Shops at South Seas, 14830 Captiva Drive, Captiva<\/p>\n<p>Details<\/p>\n<p>Free and open to public<\/p>\n<p>            &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n            &#13;<br \/>\n            &#13;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
