RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 New details have emerged on Monday regarding a road rage encounter that allegedly spiraled into a deadly shooting<\/a> at a Riviera Beach distribution center, claiming the life of a 34-year-old FedEx<\/a> employee. <\/p>\n

The probable cause affidavit states that at approximately 9:14 p.m. on April 16, authorities received a call from a woman, who reported that her boyfriend, Nathaniel Padgett, had been shot in the leg. <\/p>\n

Additionally, just moments before this call, the Riviera Beach Police Department said that their ShotSpotter<\/a> system detected multiple gunshots from the location of the incident at 1177 West Blue Heron Blvd. <\/p>\n

Investigators reported finding nine 9mm caliber shell casings at the scene.<\/p>\n

The victim was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds but was pronounced dead at around 11:28 p.m. that night.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the shooting, around 9:36 PM, the West Palm Beach Police Department reported receiving a call from Tyler Vidro, 25, who claimed he felt threatened and had to use his firearm. When asked by dispatch if he had shot someone, Vidro described the victim as a Black male but could not provide further details on his clothing.<\/p>\n

He stated, “I didn’t think to call you guys, but the lawyer told me to.”<\/p>\n

Officers reported locating Vidro, who was at a nearby Sunoco gas station, and confirmed that the shooting had occurred at the FedEx hub. Upon arrival, officers informed him of his rights, and he allegedly admitted that he had emptied the magazine of his firearm. He then requested legal representation and was taken into custody for further investigation.<\/p>\n

Officers interviewed the victim’s girlfriend at the police station, where she told them that she was a passenger in Padgett’s FedEx truck at the time of the shooting. <\/p>\n

According to her account, as they traveled from Port St. Lucie to the FedEx hub, Vidro’s vehicle began to follow them closely. Despite Padgett’s attempts to ignore the confrontation, Vidro persisted, leading to an argument after they arrived at the distribution center.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported that during the argument, Padgett refused to engage in a fight at work. However, Vidro allegedly provoked him further, which escalated the situation. Alexander stated that she heard multiple gunshots and saw Vidro flee the scene afterward.<\/p>\n

According to the report, surveillance footage captured Padgett’s FedEx truck being followed closely by Vidro’s grey Honda Sonata into the parking lot of the FedEx hub.<\/p>\n
