Cox Media Group has promoted industry veteran Shawn Knight to Assistant Director of Branding and Programming for urban AC \u201cHot 106.5\u201d WHJX Jacksonville, FL.<\/p>\n
In his new role, Knight will help oversee day-to-day programming as well as marketing, promotions, events and sales campaigns. He will continue his on-air duties, hosting afternoon drive on \u201cHot 106.5\u201d and middays on \u201cPower 106.1,\u201d which airs on the Jacksonville-licensed FM translator W291CI at 106.1, with programming originating on WJGL-HD2.<\/p>\n
Knight brings more than 30 years of experience in radio. His previous roles include Assistant Program Director at \u201cKiss 107.3\u201d KISX in Tyler, TX, and Programming Assistant positions at \u201cK92.7\u201d WKZJ in Columbus, GA, and \u201cSoul 106.3\u201d WSRB in Chicago. He began his career in Chicago at Kennedy King College\u2019s WKKC and WGCI-AM, and later became a morning show host in Topeka, KS, where he was named \u201cBest Morning Show\u201d by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.<\/p>\n
Knight will report to Elroy Smith, Director of Branding and Programming for \u201cHot 106.5\u201d and \u201cPower 106.1\u201d and Director of Urban Content for Cox Media Group.<\/p>\n
