A major rock band is coming to Southwest Florida after coming off a 2025 that saw them celebrate the 30th anniversary of an album that went platinum. <\/p>\n

Everclear, known for songs such as \u201cSanta Monica,\u201d \u201cFather Of Mine,\u201d \u201cI Will Buy You A New Life,\u201d and countless others, will perform at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon on April 26. <\/p>\n

The Grammy-nominated band that was formed in the Pacific Northwest in the early \u201990s recently marked three decades of its major-label debut album \u201cSparkle And Fade,\u201d and are touring this year including a stop in Southwest Florida next weekend. <\/p>\n

While the band has seen it all over its long tenure in the music scene, and have played in Fort Myers on various occasions, this will be the first time they will perform at The Ranch. <\/p>\n

Art Alexakis, who is Everclear\u2019s founder\/lead singer\/guitarist\/songwriter, spoke with The Breeze and said the band is \u201cstoked\u201d to perform in Fort Myers. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re stoked to play the venue and stoked to be on this tour,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to come back to the Fort Myers area.\u201d <\/p>\n

Since forming in Portland in 1991, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career by any measure, spanning 11 studio releases, including four that have been certified gold or platinum, selling over six million records, and achieving 12 Top 40 hit singles on Mainstream Rock, Alternative and Adult Top 40 radio.<\/p>\n

Following a tour that promoted the anniversary of \u201cSparkle And Fade,\u201d including a remastered version of the album, Alexakis said new projects are in the works. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working on a new record,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve been writing a lot. We recorded nine different tracks last week. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sounding great. We\u2019re getting ready for next year and the 30th anniversary of \u201cAfterglow.\u201d And this year we have a special tour coming up\u2026 it\u2019s going to be very fan-centric. It\u2019s a tour we\u2019ve never done anything like before. It\u2019s going to be a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexakis said 2026 has already treated him much better than last year, as his home was greatly impacted by the California wildfires, namely in the Altadena area. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt burned down most of my property,\u201d he said. \u201cThis year, the house is back and better than it was before. Just loving life and loving being home, and loving having the work to go out and do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexakis said he\u2019s someone that likes to live in the moment. While the 30th anniversary tour was being played out across stages throughout the globe, and the band enjoyed some deep cuts they don\u2019t normally play, it\u2019s all about being present in the now and looking to take steps forward. <\/p>\n

\u201cI take pride in (our success),\u201d Alexakis said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been together for 35 years, and bands that have been together that long go through changes. Each version of the band may sound a little different, but it sounds like Everclear. It\u2019s my voice, it\u2019s my songs, it\u2019s my guitar playing. I really don\u2019t dwell and think about, \u2018wow, we\u2019ve come all this way.\u2019 I don\u2019t think like that. I think, \u2018I\u2019m where I\u2019m at now, that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing.’\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to the new project, Alexakis said, \u201cI tell stories. I\u2019m inspired to write and affected by what\u2019s going on now in our world, and it\u2019s pretty intense. I think that\u2019s definitely coming into a lot of the stories. The music is a lot of big guitars \u2014 a little darker than normal musically, but it\u2019s still a lot of pop, power-pop, a lot of fast songs. I feel really strong about the melodies. I just think it\u2019s going to be exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, Everclear released its first official live album, \u201cLive At The Whisky A Go Go,\u201d showcasing the band\u2019s acclaimed and energetic live performance. The 17-track collection features the live recording of the Los Angeles performance, showcasing the hits and hidden treasures throughout the band\u2019s extraordinary catalog as well as two new bonus studio tracks: \u201cSing Away\u201d, a powerful single addressing teen suicide, and their 2022 politically-charged single \u201cYear Of The Tiger\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it came out phenomenal,\u201d Alexakis said. \u201cThis is straight from the show. I think it\u2019s really indicative of if you want to hear what we\u2019re going to sound like live, I think it\u2019s a good way to see if you\u2019re going to like it or not. If you like rock and roll and a good, tight band, we\u2019re that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexakis has a long history in the music scene even beyond Everclear, but one thing is for sure \u2014 he still loves what he does. <\/p>\n

\u201cI love making the music. I love playing the music,\u201d he said. \u201cThe travel, for a guy who is 64 with MS, that\u2019s hard. That kicks your ass a little bit. But other than that, I love my guys and my crew. I love the people I work with. My family is doing well and everyone is happy. I\u2019m blessed, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
