{"id":241052,"date":"2026-04-21T23:14:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T23:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/241052\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T23:14:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T23:14:15","slug":"colin-cowherd-claims-billy-donovan-is-headed-to-orlando-magic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/241052\/","title":{"rendered":"Colin Cowherd claims Billy Donovan is headed to Orlando Magic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been less than a year since Colin Cowherd moved to Chicago full-time, but\u00a0The Herd host is quickly becoming a go-to for rumors around the city\u2019s sports teams.<\/p>\n<p>And on Tuesday, after the Chicago Bulls parted ways with head coach Billy Donovan, Cowherd didn\u2019t waste any time going on air with rumors around Donovan\u2019s potential next destination.<\/p>\n<p>Both in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/colincowherd\/status\/2046601496679076279?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a post on X<\/a> and a segment on FS1\u2019s The Herd, Cowherd claimed that two sources in the NBA\u2019s Eastern Conference suggested Donovan was headed to the Orlando Magic \u2014 before Donovan even left the Bulls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was told this weekend, two separate sources in the Eastern Conference \u2026 both said, \u2018Keep your eye on Billy Donovan in Orlando,\u201d Cowherd recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018He\u2019s staying in Chicago.\u2019 They said, \u2018He\u2019s \u2018weighing,\u2019 not staying in Chicago. He\u2019s weighing it.\u2019 And remember, they love him in Chicago. This is not a Doc Rivers situation. They love him, the Reinsdorfs love him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cI think people are out of their mind if they don\u2019t consider hiring Billy Donovan! I would hire Billy Donovan tomorrow.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/colincowherd?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@colincowherd<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jasonrmcintyre?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@jasonrmcintyre<\/a> discuss Donovan exiting as Bulls head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8WSdtNiyPh\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/8WSdtNiyPh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Herd w\/Colin Cowherd (@TheHerd) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheHerd\/status\/2046642789111230544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now that Donovan is in fact out in Chicago, Cowherd feels confident Donovan would go to Orlando\u2026 or, in a completely different sort of career move, the University of Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOrlando is ready to win now,\u201d Cowherd said. \u201cEven if you (Chicago) nail your picks, that\u2019s like a three-year runway to get good, because they\u2019ve made so many mistakes giving players away and missing on players. Orlando\u2019s ready to win now. Now if Orlando beats Detroit in that series, I kind of got a feeling the Pistons are going to come back, blowout win \u2026 or keep your eye on Kentucky basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Orlando faced loud rumors that it would fire head coach Jamahl Mosley for much of the season, but stole Game 1 on the road in Detroit over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Mark Pope is still employed at Kentucky. And Donovan hasn\u2019t coached college basketball since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The two-time NCAA champion still boasts a .532 winning percentage in the NBA despite overseeing a rebuild the past two years in Chicago, and will undoubtedly be a top target across the NBA this offseason. But Cowherd is going somewhat out on a limb, tying Donovan so strongly to two jobs that are not yet open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis dude is hyper-competitive. He\u2019s in unbelievable shape.
