Florida State quarterback target Wonderful \u201cChamp\u201d Monds looks to be trending towards the Notre Dame<\/a> Fighting Irish, according to a recent crystal ball prediction over the weekend. A name we\u2019ve told you to keep in mind as a potential quarterback target in the event that Monds doesn\u2019t come to Florida State is three-star Logan Flaherty.<\/p>\n

Logan Flaherty, a UCF commit since October 2025, just de-committed from the Knights and will likely be the prime candidate to join Florida State\u2019s 2027 recruiting class.<\/p>\n

Flaherty has visited Florida State several times, including a recent trip in March. Flaherty has garnered interest from other schools since committing to UCF. South Carolina, SMU, Syracuse, and Georgia Tech have offered over the past month.<\/p>\n

Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Florida, and others offered him last year. Flaherty ranks as the No. 710 player and No. 39 quarterback nationally, according to the composite rankings. He\u2019s 6\u20192\u201d and 187 pounds with a long, wiry build. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The timing of the de-commitment and Monds getting the crystal ball prediction to Notre Dame is no coincidence. The dominoes for the 2027 recruiting class starting falling a few weeks ago. Honestly, neither player would come in and start right away, so FSU likely saves a few dollars if Flaherty is the guy who signs in the class. <\/p>\n

Only a small percentage of high school quarterbacks who sign with Power Four programs actually stay to develop and become the starter. The trend over the past few years is to sign transfers who signed with smaller schools and developed before making the jump to better competition.<\/p>\n

Flaherty isn’t a name that will get the Florida State fan base excited if he commits, but it’s a in-state player with some upside who’ll need to develop without breaking the bank.<\/p>\n

FSU has some potential quarterbacks on the roster who could play in front of him, and using those funds for more important positions who could make an impact earlier might be the smart move anyways. <\/p>\n
