TALLAHASSEE \u2013 Florida State outdoor track and field student-athletes Shenese Walker<\/a> and Shamar Reid<\/a> were named ACC Performers of the Week on Tuesday following their performances at the Tom Jones Memorial Invite.

\nWalker was announced as Women’s Performer of the Week, while Reid was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
\n\u00a0
\n“Truly outstanding performances this weekend from Shenese and Shamar,” said FSU head coach Matt Kane<\/a>. “Shenese performance not only put her on the all-time list for the NCAA but top eight all-time for Jamacia, which puts her among the greats in sprinting.
\n\u00a0
\nWalker competed in the primetime event of the women’s 100-meters, placing second behind a massive personal-best at 10.80 seconds which stands as the second-fastest time in the world and NCAA this season. Walker’s time also set both a new program and ACC record, while also ranking fifth all-time in collegiate history and eighth in Jamaican history.

\n“Shamar continues to be consistent and find a way to improve each week,” Kane added. “He has been a great addition to our throws group this season and look forward to how he performs at the conference meet.”

\nReid participated in the men’s discus throw, setting a personal-best of 63.10 meters as the top ACC thrower and second overall in the event. Reid, who holds the No. 2 spot in Florida State history in the event, continues to maintain his top spot in the conference standings and moved up to second in the NCAA this season.

\n“Shamar has been consistent in his training since arriving at FSU,” said assistant coach Luke Bryant<\/a>. “His consistency will continue to pay off as we approach championship season in May and June.”
