The suspect was charged with multiple counts of <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/murder\/\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">murder<\/a> \u200cand attempted murder.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The chatbot advised the shooter on what type \u2060of gun to use, on which ammo went with which gun, on whether or not a gun would be useful at short \u200brange,&#8221; Uthmeier said in a press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If it \u200cwas a person on the other end of that screen, we would be charging them with murder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Uthmeier&#8217;s office said the <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/investigation\/\" class=\"gtm-add-suggested-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">investigation<\/a> will determine whether &#8220;OpenAI bears criminal \u200cresponsibility for ChatGPT&#8217;s actions in the shooting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Office of Statewide Prosecution subpoenaed OpenAI for some information and \u200brecords, it added.<\/p>\n<p>The rise of AI has fed a host of concerns ranging from worries that electricity demand by data centers could raise power prices \u200bfor consumers, to fears that the technology could cost workers their jobs \u200bor be used to disrupt the democratic process, \u200bturbocharge fraud or help people plan criminal activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a-read-more\">Read more<a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tv-shows\/truth-or-fake\/20260120-one-year-of-trump-2-0-how-he-s-weaponised-ai-as-political-propaganda-1\" class=\"a-read-more__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">One year of Trump 2.0: How he&#8217;s weaponised AI as political propaganda<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An OpenAI spokeswoman told US media that the shooting was a \u200btragedy but the company had no responsibility.
