(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\">WWSB<\/a>) &#8211; A ninth grader at Strawberry Crest High School in Hillsborough County was arrested after administrators say he brought a firearm to school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">School administrators approached the 15-year-old boy Oct. 27 after getting a tip that he may have been in possession of vape pens, the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During a search of his backpack, school staff says they found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. The firearm was not loaded and no ammunition was found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">When confronted, the boy tried to run away and, in the process, pushed two school administrators to the ground, causing injury, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was arrested and charged with:<\/p>\n<p>Possession of a weapon on school groundsMinor in possession of a firearmBattery on a specified official or employee (two counts)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There were no direct threats made toward students or staff at the school, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WWSB.
