{"id":242851,"date":"2026-04-23T05:26:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T05:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/242851\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T05:26:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T05:26:17","slug":"aga-makurat-added-to-signing-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/242851\/","title":{"rendered":"Aga Makurat Added to Signing Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"_Hlk188797278\">TALLAHASSEE \u2013<\/a> Florida State women&#8217;s basketball head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/seminoles.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/brooke-wyckoff\/979\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"979\" target=\"_blank\">Brooke Wyckoff<\/a> announced the signing of Aga Makurat on Wednesday. \u00a0A forward, Makurat signs with the Seminoles for her senior season after spending three at Vanderbilt.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;Aga is a highly skilled and experienced player who brings a unique combination of size, and versatility to our roster,&#8221; Wyckoff said. &#8220;Her ability to play multiple positions and stretch the floor makes her a great fit for how we want to play.\u00a0 She also has a level of experience that will be valuable for our team, and she understands what it takes to compete at a high level night in and night out.\u00a0 Most importantly, Aga is committed to expanding her game and growing as a basketball player in her time at FSU and we are excited to help her in that endeavor!&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAs a junior in 2025-26 Makurat appeared in 31 games from the bench, helping the Commodores to a Sweet 16 appearance behind a 29-5 record.\u00a0 \u00a0She set a career-high of 21 points against Alabama State, where she sank five three-pointers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDuring her second year with the Commodores, Makurat played in 14 games, all off the bench, averaging 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game. She scored season-high 10 points and matched her personal-best with three assists against Appalachian State.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIn her first year, she appeared in all 33 games, making three starts, and scored double-digit points in three games. She made 29 3-pointers as a freshman, shooting 32.2 percent from behind the arc, and led the Commodores in scoring twice.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nInternationally, Makurat led Poland in scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg) at the 2024 FIBA U20 Women&#8217;s Eurobasket, with notable performances of 24 points against Latvia and 20 points against Finland. She also averaged 13.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women&#8217;s European Championship and scored 21 points in the Round of 16 against Belgium at the 2019 FIBA U16 Women&#8217;s European Championship.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMakurat\u00a0will be\u00a0the first player from Poland in the FSU program history.
