Asian dessert soups are going to have a moment this year in Mills 50.<\/p>\n

Fan Hwa, a shop by Jiang\u2019s Kitchen owner Eric Jiang serving tong sui, or Cantonese \u201csugar water,\u201d will open later next month<\/a> at 709 N. Mills Ave. Around the same time, Danh Nguyen and Grace Ramos will serve slurpers at Catch\u00e8, a dessert house specializing in Vietnamese dessert soups called ch\u00e8.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the go-to dessert for most Vietnamese people, including us,\u201d says Nguyen. \u201cThere aren\u2019t any ch\u00e8 places in Orlando anymore, not after Bamb\u016b Desserts & Drinks closed, so we wanted to bring back the ch\u00e8 experience but with a modern aesthetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The inspiration for Catch\u00e8 came after a recent trip to Vietnam where Nguyen and Ramos visited numerous ch\u00e8 joints to indulge in what they call their \u201cfavorite dessert.\u201d Ch\u00e8 can run the textural and thermal gamut with bases ranging from coconut milk to pandan water with a diverse range of ingredients, be it mung beans, jellies or tropical fruits.<\/p>\n

Nguyen and Ramos haven\u2019t finalized their ch\u00e8 menu just yet \u2014 \u201cwe\u2019re perfecting it,\u201d they say \u2014 but did reveal that Vietnamese coffee, fresh juices and non-soupy desserts will be offered as well.<\/p>\n
