{"id":243421,"date":"2026-04-23T16:13:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T16:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/243421\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T16:13:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T16:13:14","slug":"james-uthmeier-honors-crime-victim-advocates-in-tallahassee-ceremony-florida-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/243421\/","title":{"rendered":"James Uthmeier honors crime victim advocates in Tallahassee ceremony | Florida News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Attorney General\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/ag-bio\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">James Uthmeier<\/a>\u00a0marked\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ovc.ojp.gov\/program\/national-crime-victims-rights-week\/overview\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">National Crime Victims\u2019 Rights Week<\/a>\u00a0during a Tallahassee event that not only recognized the victims of crime, but prosecutors and law enforcement personnel as well.<\/p>\n<p>A sizable crowd gathered inside the Capitol building as Uthmeier led an annual ceremony that honors victims of crime and their families, who are often left to deal with the aftermath in violent attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Uthmeier also held an awards ceremony for advocates who help victims cope with the impacts of crime, as well as other professionals who deal with recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Uthmeier said his Office has worked hard during his tenure to cut down crime in the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve made this the safest state in the country by focusing on prosecuting crime to the fullest,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/newsrelease\/attorney-general-james-uthmeier-recognizes-outstanding-law-enforcement-and-victims\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Uthmeier said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The event culminated with Uthmeier bestowing Distinguished Victims Service Awards to law enforcement and victims advocate personnel who have helped victims throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>Those who received the award include Cpl.\u00a0Amanda Baranowski\u00a0of the Tampa Police Department, Det.\u00a0Stephen Buscemi\u00a0of the Palm Beach Police Department, Det.\u00a0Cora Milliken\u00a0of Green Cove Springs Police Department, and Commander\u00a0Daniel Mosquera\u00a0of the Miami-Dade State Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese law enforcement officers and victim advocates meet victims on the worst days of their lives and make the choice to fight for them every day,\u201d\u00a0Uthmeier said.\u00a0\u201cIt is an honor to recognize them for their service to our great state.
