Anna Paulina Luna this Spring shook up the makeup of the U.S. House.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After member scandals went ignored for months by leaders of both parties \u2014 a phenomenon attributable to a tight margin in the U.S. House \u2014 Luna <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/790733-anna-paulina-luna-a-warrior-for-justice-against-her-congressional-colleagues-wrongdoing\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">proposed expelling<\/a> both Republican U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales and Democratic U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell in one fell swoop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Within 24 hours, both lawmakers resigned instead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While no resolution ever needed to be filed, it showed the role Luna plays even as a second-term Congresswoman in a battleground district \u2014 and as one sometimes at odds with leaders of her own party. And it\u2019s not the first time she has pushed for a change that House Speaker Mike Johnson wasn\u2019t willing to make.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A master of social media and a beloved figure of the conservative base, the St. Petersburg Republican has flexed her power in nontraditional ways for years now. Luna hasn\u2019t won every battle \u2014 a high-profile fight for <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/730970-anna-paulina-luna-drops-proxy-voting-effort-supports-mike-johnson-vote-pairing-compromise\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">proxy voting<\/a> for expectant parents comes to mind \u2014 but she has been able to push leadership on issues important to her and other members of the body.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.protectpeace.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-789062 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/PP-728x90-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s that type of rapid work, both changing the rules in Washington and advocating for her Pinellas County district, that earned the Congresswoman the No. 10 spot on this year\u2019s list of Tampa Bay\u2019s Most Powerful Politicians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSince Day 1, Anna Paulina Luna has been what she promised on the campaign trail: a fighter,\u201d said Adam Ross, Pinellas County Republican Party Chair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cShe has been willing to lead on issues, such as the ban on insider trading by members of Congress, the release of sexual harassment records from the House Ethics Committee, voter ID laws, and beach renourishment. In doing so, she has made her district the safest in the country as she has repeatedly won by large margins even though millions have been wasted in attack ads against her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Her influence will be tested again this year, as she remains a top target of <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/755398-dnc-targets-anna-paulina-luna-in-new-release-the-files-ad-campaign-after-latest-in-trump-epstein-saga\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">national Democrats<\/a>. But that also keeps her in the place where she seems to wield the most power: the headlines. And at age 36, Luna has the runway, if she can hold onto her seat, to increase seniority and influence through traditional channels as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAnna Paulina Luna is fearless, energetic, tireless \u2014 and she never backs down from a challenge,\u201d said Michael Corcoran, CEO of Corcoran Partners.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chpk.com\/escalent-names-florida-city-gas-2024-customer-champion\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-716709\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/FCG-CS-Award-2025-FL-Politics-Ads-728-x-90-px.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And at least for the next few years, Luna has solid relationships in the White House as one of the most steadfast allies of President Donald Trump. She has been a key part of an effort by Trump loyalists in the House to force a vote in the Senate on national election changes, just the latest time Luna rallied support for a presidential priority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She has nominated Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize and sponsored legislation to carve his image into Mount Rushmore. Trump has endorsed Luna for re-election, calling her a MAGA warrior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAnna is an America First Patriot, who fights tirelessly to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes, Secure our Border, End Migrant Crime, Support our Great Military\/Vets, Protect our always under siege Second Amendment, and Restore American Energy DOMINANCE,\u201d he posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114480037543029538\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What does all of this mean for Tampa Bay?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well, she sought Trump\u2019s help last year, urging him to direct the Army Corps of Engineers to waive easement policy requirements and allow the Florida Shore Protection Project in Pinellas County to move forward using emergency funding. The Army Corps hasn\u2019t fully funded its normal share of renourishment of St. Pete Beach because not all landowners have supported the plan. But the project was allowed to go forward this year with local dollars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After Hurricanes Helene and Milton both struck her district in 2024, she secured more than $800,000 to rebuild the Dunedin Pier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/pinellas\/2026\/04\/06\/dunedin-pier-clearwater-ferry-anna-paulina-luna\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">presenting a check<\/a> earlier this month. Now, she\u2019s also pushing for millions in flood mitigation and stormwater improvements around Pinellas County, and her connections with the administration could play a valuable role.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Washington, she has enjoyed accolades from some of the most powerful Republican political groups in the country, including Club for Growth, the American Conservative Union and the National Federation of Independent Business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cRep. Anna Paulina Luna\u2019s commitment to economic liberty and her steadfast support of conservative principles have made her a standout advocate for Floridians,\u201d said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh, whose organization directed nearly $700,000 to aid Luna\u2019s re-election effort in 2024. \u201cRep. Luna has shown her willingness to fight for fiscal responsibility and individual freedoms in Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With opponents already collectively raising more than $1 million to unseat Luna in a battleground district again this year, it will be important for the Republican to have friends standing with her in a fight. Based on history, it\u2019s clear she will have them this go-round as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">___<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for methodology, the Tampa Bay region is defined as Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties, with Hernando, Polk and Sarasota included when their elected officials impact Pinellas or Hillsborough.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A politician is defined as someone currently in office or actively running for office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Panelists ranked their Top 25, with a first-place vote earning 25 points, second place earning 24, and so on down to 1 point for 25th.
