{"id":243535,"date":"2026-04-23T17:34:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T17:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/243535\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T17:34:12","slug":"city-asking-residents-to-help-report-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/243535\/","title":{"rendered":"City asking residents to help report violations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  \u2013 Jacksonville officials have enacted an emergency burn ban across all of Duval County in response to dangerous wildfire conditions threatening the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The City of Jacksonville says it is working alongside the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office to enforce the ban and protect people and property.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s banned under Jacksonville\u2019s burn ban<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The ban applies to all open burning within Duval County limits and includes residential burning, recreational fires, fireworks and commercial land clearing operations. The ban remains in effect until further notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Any exceptions must be approved on a case-by-case basis by Fire Chief Golden II.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s still allowed<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Not all fire-related activity is off the table. Residents can still use enclosed grills or smokers for food preparation. Flaring of waste gases for safety purposes is also permitted during the ban.<\/p>\n<p>How to report a burn ban violation in Jacksonville<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Residents who spot a violation are encouraged to report it. During business hours \u2014 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. \u2014 violations can be reported through MyJax at <a href=\"https:\/\/myjax.custhelp.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/myjax.custhelp.com\">myjax.custhelp.com<\/a> or by calling 904-630-CITY.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Outside of business hours, residents should call the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office non-emergency line at 904-630-0500.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">For more information, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/jaxready.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/jaxready.com\">jaxready.com<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>Penalties for violations<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Violations can be issued by the City of Jacksonville Environmental Quality Division (EQD) or JFRD to both residents and businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Commercial violators face penalties up to $8,000 per violation, while residential violators face penalties up to $250 per violation.
