{"id":245029,"date":"2026-04-24T17:19:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/245029\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T17:19:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:19:07","slug":"teen-who-fatally-struck-cyclist-while-riding-e-bike-on-rickenbacker-causeway-gets-probation-after-plea-deal-reached-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/245029\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen who fatally struck cyclist while riding e-bike on Rickenbacker Causeway gets probation after plea deal reached &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI (WSVN) &#8211; A teenage boy learnied his fate in court for a <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/bicyclist-killed-in-crash-on-rickenbacker-causeway-in-miami-eastbound-lanes-closed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">2025 crash that killed a man<\/a> along the Rickenbacker Causeway.<\/p>\n<p>State prosecutors on Friday accepted a plea deal in which the state dismissed a vehicular homicide charge and kept the teen\u2019s original charge of driving with no valid license causing great bodily harm or death.<\/p>\n<p>This means the teen will be on probation until he is 19 years old.<\/p>\n<p>The teen <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/14-year-old-arrested-in-crash-that-killed-bicyclist-on-rickenbacker-causeway-in-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was 14 years old<\/a> when he slammed into Fabian Moses\u2019 bicycle, Aug. 15.<\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest report, a witness told detectives that the teen accelerated ahead of a group of juveniles on dirt bikes and rear-ended the victim, who was riding alongside his wife.<\/p>\n<p>Paramedics rushed the 54-year-old victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital\u2019s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>His widow was in court Friday as the state accepted the teen\u2019s plea.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding judge also ordered the teen to undergo therapy, do community service and make a donation to JMH.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
