Miami has made headlines lately for attracting some of the world\u2019s wealthiest people.<\/a><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, seemingly in response to a proposed wealth tax in California, tech billionaires including Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and Sergey Brin dropped millions on waterfront real estate in the Miami area. In 2022, billionaire Ken Griffin moved to Miami, bringing his hedge fund Citadel\u2019s headquarters with him.<\/p>\n

But just because these billionaires have been drawn to Miami doesn\u2019t necessarily mean early career employees in tech, finance and other industries are, too.<\/p>\n

A recent report from the commercial real estate brokerage JLL found that New York City still has a considerable advantage over Florida when it comes to attracting young talent from top universities.<\/p>\n

There are some obvious explanations. Cities like New York and San Francisco are still the clear hubs for the finance and tech industries. And Miami\u2019s relatively low salaries and high rents may give pause to new grads considering a move to Miami.<\/p>\n
