An 18-year-old Riverview man was seriously hurt after his car clipped a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75, stopped in the center lane and was hit by an SUV as he stood in the road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n
The man was driving a Kia Optima south on I-75 near mile marker 241, close to Sun City Center\/Gibsonton, around 4:39 a.m. April 19 when he tried to pass the tractor-trailer in the outside lane, lost control and spun into the truck, troopers said. His car came to rest in the center lane, and the tractor-trailer stopped on the shoulder, according to the patrol.<\/p>\n
The man got out and was standing in the road when a southbound Ford Explorer hit his car, troopers said. Both vehicles were pushed forward and struck him before coming to rest in the median.<\/p>\n
He was taken to a hospital. The tractor-trailer driver, a 41-year-old Riverview man, and the Explorer’s driver, a 75-year-old Wimauma man, were not hurt, according to the patrol.
