The case was reportedly led by School Resource Unit Sergeant Christina Torres, who conducted interviews, gathered digital evidence, and coordinated a review of electronic communications.<\/p>\n
As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered what they described as ongoing contact between McNeil and the student across multiple platforms, both during and after her time in the school system. Authorities say the communication extended beyond a professional relationship and showed patterns consistent with grooming.<\/p>\n
Search warrants were executed for digital devices and associated accounts. Investigators say technical data and account records helped establish the nature and extent of the relationship.<\/p>\n
Due to the overwhelming evidence, deputies say they found probable cause to book McNeil for counts of Authority Figure Engaging in a Romantic Relationship with a Student and Use of a Two-Way Communications Device to Facilitate a Felony.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Okeechobee County Schools said:<\/p>\n
Okeechobee County Schools is aware that a teacher employed by the District was recently arrested. The employee was reassigned to a position that does not involve contact with students as soon as the District became aware of allegations. In addition, prior to the arrest, the employee’s contract had already been non-renewed for the 2026-27 school year. The safety of students and staff remains the District’s top priority. Because this matter is currently under investigation, Okeechobee County Schools cannot provide additional information or comment at this time. Any inquiries regarding the investigation should be directed to the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
