{"id":245583,"date":"2026-04-25T01:28:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T01:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/245583\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T01:28:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T01:28:11","slug":"nfl-draft-live-updates-miami-dolphins-rounds-2-and-3-picks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/245583\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL Draft live updates: Miami Dolphins\u2019 Rounds 2 and 3 picks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Miami Dolphins have already made two picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/article315514845.html#storylink=mainstage_card\">Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor at No. 12<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/article315514859.html#storylink=mainstage_card\">San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson at No. 27<\/a> in the first round on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>What will <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/article315497838.html#storylink=mainstage_card\">Day 2 of the draft<\/a>, which consists of Rounds 2 and 3 of this seven-round draft, have in store for Miami? Things should continue to stay busy.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolphins open Friday with four selections for the day, so first-year Miami general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan will once again look for ways to fortify the roster.<\/p>\n<p>Follow along here throughout the day as the Miami Herald keeps track of all the Dolphins\u2019 musings. We\u2019ll also keep track of any news regarding the Miami Hurricanes <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/college\/acc\/university-of-miami\/article315495226.html#storylink=mainstage_lead\">after three UM players were selected in the first round<\/a> and keep up with where local players land as a host of Miami-Dade and Broward natives have a chance to be selected on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The latest updates will always come at the top of the file.<\/p>\n<p>Time for the third round<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re halfway through today\u2019s portion of the draft.<\/p>\n<p>The third round is about to get underway.<\/p>\n<p>Miami is slated to pick three more times at Nos. 75, 87 and 94 before the night comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>And could any Hurricanes get taken in the third round after no one went in the second round? Defensive back Keionte Scott, quarterback Carson Beck and possibly offensive lineman Markel Bell would make the most sense to get drafted before the night is over.<\/p>\n<p>Chaminade-Madonna\u2019s D\u2019Angelo Ponds goes to the Jets<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Angelo Ponds won state titles at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. He won a national championship at Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>And now, the cornerback is heading to the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Jets drafted Ponds No. 50 overall in the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Ponds, who started his college career at James Madison, had 116 tackles, five interceptions and 24 defended passes in his two seasons at Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>He will be the third active Chaminade alumnus in the NFL, joining wide receiver Marquise Brown and kicker (and former Hurricane) Andres Borregales.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/article315460163.html\">Read more about Ponds\u2019 path to the NFL here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dolphins\u2019 first pick of Day 2 is in<\/p>\n<p>With the 43rd overall pick \u2014 their first of four selections on Friday \u2014 the Miami Dolphins drafted Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez was one of college football\u2019s standouts in 2025, winning the Chuck Bednarik Award, Butkus Award, Lombardi Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. He finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting and was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after logging 128 tackles with 11 tackles for loss, intercepting four passes and forcing seven fumbles.<\/p>\n<p>Miami\u2019s next pick is at No. 75 in the third round.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/article315527853.html\">More to come here<\/a>. Analysts had <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/article315200285.html\">high praise<\/a> for the selection.<\/p>\n<p>Cardinal Gibbons\u2019 Thomas picked by Chiefs<\/p>\n<p>R Mason Thomas, a former standout at Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons, is the first local player off the board on Day 2 of the draft.<\/p>\n<p>The Kansas City Chiefs selected the Oklahoma edge rusher at No. 40 overall.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas is the fourth Cardinal Gibbons player ever to be selected in the NFL draft and the highest-ever selection in school history. Running back Donnell Bennett previously held that mark, being selected 58th overall in the 1994 draft \u2014 also by the Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas played in 42 career games for the Sooners, including making 20 starts as a junior and senior. He finished his college career with 65 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, 17 sacks and four forced fumbles.
