It comes as a report documenting the deaths of 31 sloths at the location in 2024 and 2025 was circulated widely. The sloths were supposed to end up at Sloth World, which was expected to open soon, but it’s unclear if that is still happening. Congressman Maxwell Frost said he was appalled to hear about the sloths that died well before Sloth World was set to open in Orlando. Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission documents show the sloths were kept at the warehouse on International Drive, which is less than five minutes from Sloth World.A spokesperson for Orange County said the last inspection was in 2021, and the building was permitted to store cars, not animals. They said the permit was for Empire Slingshot LLC for the rental and inside storage of vehicles. The county says an inspector tried four times to get into the warehouse on Thursday, with no luck.On Friday, WESH 2 spotted several empty crates and moving vans outside the warehouse. People could be seeing going into and out of the facility, but nobody spoke with WESH 2. Frost’s office is now calling on the USDA to investigate and take action against the owner of Sloth World. They will remain in quarantine for at least 30 days, with their nutrition and overall health closely monitored by professional animal care staff and medical teams.”

      ORLANDO, Fla. —

Orange County inspectors put a stop-work order on the building that housed sloths meant for a new attraction in Orlando.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission documents show the sloths were kept at the warehouse on International Drive, which is less than five minutes from Sloth World.

A spokesperson for Orange County said the last inspection was in 2021, and the building was permitted to store cars, not animals.

They said the permit was for Empire Slingshot LLC for the rental and inside storage of vehicles.

The county says an inspector tried four times to get into the warehouse on Thursday, with no luck.

On Friday, WESH 2 spotted several empty crates and moving vans outside the warehouse.
