BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB Softball lost its seventh series opener of the season, being shut out\u00a0for the second game in a row. UAB’s offense wasn’t able to generate momentum, only recording three hits and a pair of walks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
South Florida took the lead in the third inning with a home run to deep right field, scoring a pair of runs. The Bulls extended their lead in the fifth with a two-run double to right-center\u00a0field. South Florida scored its final run on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n
Caitlin Russell<\/a> was charged with the loss for UAB. Russell threw 4.2 innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs. Caroline McLendon<\/a> relieved Russell, throwing 2.1 hitless innings, walking just one batter.<\/p>\n Notables
