Broward County School Board candidate Nicole Morst has secured the endorsement of Debbi Hixon, adding to a growing list of local leaders supporting her campaign for the District 4 seat.\n<\/p>\n

Hixon, a longtime public school educator who served more than 30 years in the classroom before being elected countywide in 2020 and reelected in 2024, praised Morst\u2019s commitment to students, families, and educators.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to wholeheartedly endorse Nicole Morst for School Board,\u201d Hixon said. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t just speak about issues, she shows up, does the work, and stays engaged until solutions are found.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hixon added that Morst\u2019s consistency, willingness to listen, and ability to approach challenges with \u201ccompassion and determination\u201d make her well-suited for the role.\n<\/p>\n

Morst, a parent, chair of the North Area Advisory Council, and Coral Springs resident, has worked with families and schools across Broward County to address districtwide concerns and ensure community voices are included in decision-making.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m honored to have the support of School Board Member Debbi Hixon,\u201d Morst said. \u201cShe has dedicated her life to public education and understands what it takes to lead with focus and integrity.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The endorsement builds on support from several Broward leaders, including School Board Vice Chair Jeff Holness, Coral Springs Commissioners Joe McHugh and Josh Simmons, and Margate Vice Mayor Anthony Caggiano. Morst also previously received support from the late Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer.\n<\/p>\n

Morst faces Sharry Kimmel<\/a> in the August election, who holds a doctorate in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from Nova Southeastern University.\n<\/p>\n

Kimmel was named Broward County Teacher of the Year in 1996 for her work with gifted students at Pembroke Lakes Elementary School. For the past 22 years, she has been a professor of teacher education at Broward College, according to the Kimmel campaign website.\n<\/p>\n

Morst\u2019s campaign platform focuses on school safety, supporting teachers, improving communication with families, and ensuring equitable resources for neighborhood schools throughout District 4.\n<\/p>\n

The election for the Broward County School Board District 4 seat is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2026.\n<\/p>\n
