Democratic Senate candidate Alex Vindman will campaign in Tampa today part of his \u201cCut Costs & Crush Corruption\u201d statewide tour.<\/p>\n

The Army combat veteran, who this week qualified<\/a> to challenge U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody in November, kicked off a statewide tour this week<\/a>. He intends to meet with veterans, labor groups and Democratic leaders across the state.<\/p>\n

At 7 a.m. on Saturday, he intends to meet with hundreds of veterans at Operation Stand Down<\/a>, a two-day event serving veterans with free medical and dental care, mental health support, Veterans Court, housing and employment resources and other essential services.<\/p>\n

He later will keynote a luncheon for the Coalition Builders for Action, a Tampa-based organization which has provided revival style rallies. The group announce Vindman as a speaker earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then at 1:30 p.m., he will cross over to St. Petersburg for the North Pinellas County Democratic Club\u2019s spring picnic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then this evening, he will deliver another keynote address at the Hillsborough Society Gala<\/a>, a gathering of leaders, professionals and engaged citizens.<\/p>\n

Vindman has said his tour will focus on affordability and other issues directly impacting Floridians\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorida families are struggling with the high cost of gas, groceries, and housing because career politicians like Ashley Moody have left them in the dust. Floridians are ready for leaders who will fight for them and not the special interests, and I\u2019m the only person in this race who is ready to shake things up in D.C. so that Florida is affordable again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Vindman notably first faces a Democratic Primary in the U.S. Senate race before he can go head-to-head with Moody in the fall. State Rep. Angie Nixon, a Jacksonville Democrat, also qualified for the ballot.<\/p>\n

As of the end of March, Vindman had raised almost $8.19 million and closed the quarter with more than $6.44 million cash on hand. Meanwhile, Nixon had raised close to $294,000, and had under $178,000 in the bank. But she has more experience running in Florida and organizing progressive groups statewide.<\/p>\n
