Independents make the difference."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man in Tallahassee has 54% backing among NPA voters, while the man in the White House is at 33% with the same group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Donald Trump may be the first President from Florida, but Sunshine State voters prefer Gov.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/flgov.com\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> to the man in the White House, according to fresh survey data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/today\/2026\/04\/stetson-poll-republicans-lead-in-florida-2026-races-but-many-voters-still-undecided\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Stetson University\u2019s Center for Public Opinion Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The survey of 838 likely voters conducted between March 25 and April 13 shows Trump above water, at 51% approval. But DeSantis\u2019 gaudy 59% is even better, suggesting that even as a lame duck, Floridians like their Governor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTrump\u2019s approval stands at 51% (32% strongly approve, 19% somewhat), while 49% disapprove \u2014 a near-even split that masks enormous partisan gaps\u00a0 Among Republicans, 82% approve of Trump compared to just 18% of Democrats. DeSantis follows a similar pattern with 59% overall approval (34% strongly, 25% somewhat),\u201d the pollsters note.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Trump is 35 points underwater with independents, with 68% disapproval. DeSantis is +8 with the same group, with 54% approval and 46% disapproval.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/783199-desantis-more-popular-trump-poll\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">This isn\u2019t the first survey<\/a> to show DeSantis stronger than Trump in the state.
