MIAMI, Fla. (TNND) \u2014 A Florida Home Depot store manager was accused of using unauthorized discounts to defraud the company of more than $4 million, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Citing arrest documents, USA TODAY<\/a> reported that 48-year-old Mauricio Jimenez was arrested earlier this week on organized fraud and first-degree grand theft felony charges after investigators said he approved steep markdowns on thousands of transactions, allowing select customers to purchase merchandise at significantly reduced prices.<\/p>\n

The media outlet said authorities Jimenez was involved in at least 4,500 transactions totaling roughly $55 million in merchandise during a two-year period. The excessive discounts resulted in losses of about $4.3 million for the company, per the outlet.<\/p>\n

“It was initially observed that he had several highly excessive markdowns conducted to repeated customers,” the outlet noted, citing the arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n

According to USA TODAY<\/a>, the activity raised red flags through internal monitoring systems that detected unusually high-value markdowns tied to the manager’s account. Investigators said Jimenez had the authority to approve price reductions, which he allegedly used, the outlet reported. <\/p>\n

Jimenez was arrested in Miami-Dade County and reportedly released on bond. <\/p>\n
