Some 75% of consumers say they’ll buy mom flowers or greeting cards for May 10.<\/p>\n

While Mother\u2019s Day is two weeks away, that should give shoppers some time to save up for what the National Retail Federation (NRF<\/a>) says will be record spending on the holiday honoring mom.<\/p>\n

The organization representing retailers completed a recent survey<\/a> and projects there will be $38 billion spent on matriarchs for the official Mother\u2019s Day on May 10. The NRF says that\u2019s going to come out to about $284.25 on average for each consumer across the country spent on mom.<\/p>\n

Scott Shalley, President and CEO of the Florida Retail Federation (FRF<\/a>) said they anticipate a banner year for Mother\u2019s Day in the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n

\u201cMother\u2019s Day is the perfect time to show mom just how magnificent she truly is and Florida shoppers are rising to the occasion,\u201d Shalley said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s flowers, jewelry or a one-of-a-kind experience, Florida retailers are ready with thoughtful gift ideas to help every family celebrate the women who mean the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

The FRN has its own campaign to drive consumers to local retailers in the state with its Find It in Florida<\/a> initiative which specifically outlines some of the more accessible local stores and shops.<\/p>\n

The record for Mother\u2019s Day consumer spending was set in 2023<\/a> with $35.7 billion shelled out across the country.<\/p>\n

The latest survey tapped 7,877 adult consumers across America between April 1 \u2013 8.<\/p>\n

The poll found 84% of American adults plan to celebrate Mother\u2019s Day in some fashion. About 75% of respondents said they plan to buy flowers while 74% plan to spend money on greeting cards. Another 63% said they\u2019ll take mom to a special outing on the day, 55% said they\u2019ll buy her a gift card and 45% said a gift of jewelry is on the way for their mothers.<\/p>\n

\u201cMother\u2019s Day remains a priority for many Americans, and they plan to lean into the holiday despite current economic uncertainty,\u201d NRF Chief Economist and Executive Director of Research Mark Mathews said. \u201cConsumers are gifting from the heart, seeking unique gifts that create lasting memories for the mothers in their lives.
