A deal has been reached for the potential purchase of Fisherman\u2019s Village in Charlotte County, though details at this point are scarce.<\/p>\n
SVN Commercial Partners says in a statement that a local development group \u201cwith deep ties in Punta Gorda\u201d has the property under contract and plans to invest in it.<\/p>\n
A previous sale of the property fell through in 2024.<\/p>\n
The buyer was not named nor was a sale price disclosed, but the commercial real estate firm says the sale is expected to close this summer.<\/p>\n
Fishermen\u2019s Village on Retta Esplanade has 97,000 square feet of retail shops, offices and five waterfront restaurants, according to SVN\u2019s website marketing the property. There is also a marina.<\/p>\n
Corrie Gates, director of SVN Commercial Partners, says in a statement that the development group plans to work with local stakeholders, tenants and city leadership \u201cto ensure future improvements are aligned with the broader vision for Punta Gorda\u2019s waterfront and downtown district.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sale of the waterfront attraction comes after a few tumultuous years that saw the previous owner, Jonathan Larmore, removed after the property was placed in receivership in October 2023. SVN, according to a July 2024 press release, was appointed by a judge to market the property for sale<\/p>\n
(Larmore was sentenced to five years in federal prison March 2025 in a New York case the U.S. Department of Justice says involved manipulating the stock price of WeWork Inc. to inflate the value of his securities in the company.)<\/p>\n
