{"id":249001,"date":"2026-04-28T01:17:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T01:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/249001\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T01:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T01:17:10","slug":"u-s-supreme-court-wont-consider-leon-schools-gender-identity-case-tallahassee-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/249001\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Supreme Court Won\u2019t Consider Leon Schools Gender Identity Case \u2013 Tallahassee Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                        <img width=\"640\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Florida-Supreme-Court.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>                                            <\/p>\n<p>By: The News Service of Florida<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal in a case involving the Leon County School District that inspired Florida\u2019s new laws regarding the teaching of gender and sexuality in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, January Littlejohn sued the school district, alleging teachers and administrators violated her parental rights after speaking with her child about a \u201cgender support plan\u201d without her consent.<\/p>\n<p>The case was a catalyst for Florida\u2019s \u201cParental Rights in Education,\u201d law, also known by critics as \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay,\u201d and quickly became state and national news. Littlejohn appeared alongside Gov. Ron DeSantis when the measure was passed in 2022, and President Donald Trump called Littlejohn a \u201ccourageous advocate\u201d at a joint address to Congress last year.<\/p>\n<p>The high court\u2019s decision was issued without explanation.
