{"id":249679,"date":"2026-04-28T14:30:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T14:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/249679\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T14:30:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T14:30:30","slug":"no-more-sports-and-such-for-home-schooled-students-under-the-jacksonville-school-banner-wlds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/249679\/","title":{"rendered":"No More Sports and Such for Home Schooled Students under the Jacksonville School Banner \u2013 WLDS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jacksonville school board has clarified its policy for home schooled students who want to participate in district extra curricular activities.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are no part time players in the district.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/home.casscomm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cass-fiber.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Assistant superintendent Matthew Moore says going forward, the ban on home schooled students participating in district 117 extra curricular activities has been formalized.<\/p>\n<p>He says home schooled students will not be able to compete in extra curricular activities under the Jacksonville school district banner.<\/p>\n<p>Moore says there may be negative feedback. But, he thinks it\u2019s fair.<\/p>\n<p>He says the school district cannot adequately monitor home schooled students and their grades.<\/p>\n<p>Moore says one of the drawbacks to keeping it the way it is is that it could be that a student who would be in trouble with grades in school, could be pulled for home schooling..and allowed to participate.
