The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF<\/a>) has suddenly decided that the phrase \u201cF around and find out\u201d is not suitable for political speech.<\/p>\n

The RPOF objects to the fornicative framing of the state\u2019s congressional reapportionment process<\/a> from U.S. Rep.\u00a0Hakeem Jeffries<\/a>, the current leader of the Democrats in Congress.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur message to Florida Republicans is: F around and find out,\u201d Jeffries said a week ago regarding redistricting plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they go down the road of a DeSantis dummymander, the Florida Republicans are going to find themselves in the same situation as Texas Republicans, who are on the run right now. And under no circumstances are Texas Republicans picking up five seats,\u201d Jeffries added, referencing mid-decade redistricting efforts in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

RPOF Chair Evan Power<\/a>, who is running in Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District, said Jeffries \u201cis nothing more than a political puppet and his violent rhetoric against Republicans, especially after a third assassination attempt against President (Donald) Trump, reminds voters just how radical the Democrat Party has become.\u201d<\/p>\n

Notably, Jeffries\u2019 comments came last Wednesday, days before the attempted shooting at Saturday\u2019s White House Correspondents\u2019 Association dinner.<\/p>\n

Jeffries\u2019 \u201cFAFO\u201d phrasing has also been used in the past by Florida officials in different contexts.<\/p>\n

CFO Blaise Ingoglia<\/a> has traveled the state promoting \u201cFAFO\u201d spending audits targeting local governments, via the \u201cFlorida Agency for Fiscal Oversight<\/a>.\u201d Gov.\u00a0Ron DeSantis<\/a> said the nomenclature had a \u201cnice ring\u201d to it.<\/p>\n

But Ingoglia objects to taxing and spending, not the proposed \u201cdummymander\u201d Jeffries spotlights, which is intended to privilege what DeSantis calls \u201crace-neutral districts\u201d with the salutary benefit of potentially creating just four Democratic safe seats in Florida\u2019s 28-member Congressional Delegation.<\/p>\n

Power and the party assert this is what democracy looks like.<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats want maps drawn to protect politicians. Republicans want maps drawn to represent people,\u201d Power added. \u201cThat contrast is exactly why Florida has become the model for the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeSantis and Jeffries have jousted in dueling press conferences and interviews in recent days. The Governor repeatedly invites the Congressman to Florida to campaign, even offering to \u201cput him up\u201d in the Governor\u2019s Mansion.<\/p>\n

Jeffries is putting his money where his mouth is<\/a>, meanwhile. The House Majority PAC<\/a> is committing $20 million to Florida ads on the Interstate 4 corridor and in South Florida.<\/p>\n
