TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After more than three decades of public service, Tallahassee City Manager Reese Goad announced his resignation Tuesday.<\/p>\n
In a statement Tuesday morning, the City of Tallahassee revealed that Goad\u2019s retirement will take effect September 30, or when a new city manager is selected.<\/p>\n
The Florida native moved to the capital city to attend Florida State University just before joining the City in 2000, serving in several leadership roles, according to city officials.<\/p>\n
Goad was then appointed Deputy City Manager and later became Interim City Manager in 2017, just before being named City Manager by the Tallahassee City Commission in 2018, the City said.<\/p>\n
In his announcement Tuesday, Goad reflected on his time in leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been my honor to serve as Tallahassee\u2019s City Manager for the last nine years. Throughout my career with the City, it has been a privilege to work alongside exceptional colleagues to strengthen our organization, which is defined by a culture of excellence, deep commitment to teamwork, and an unwavering spirit of resourcefulness. Together, we navigated challenges, embraced opportunities, and consistently strived to provide the best level of service to the residents of Tallahassee, and I\u2019m proud to say we delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n
The City Commission will determine the process for selecting the next City Manager, who will oversee an estimated $1.2 billion annual budget and manage core city operations, including utilities, public safety, transportation and parks, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
