Raptor cameras on Captiva Island recently went dark after providing years of up-close viewing for fans.<\/p>\n
On April 17, Window to Wildlife reported that the Captiva Island Eagle Cam and Osprey Cam property is being sold, so it would be taking down the cameras because it did not know what the new owners would want.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not exactly sure what the future holds yet, but we\u2019re hopeful,\u201d it shared. \u201cWe\u2019re planning to leave the infrastructure in place so that, if possible, we can come back once things settle and reinstall, hopefully with even better cameras.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo guarantees, but we\u2019re going to do everything we can,\u201d Window to Wildlife added.<\/p>\n
The eagle nest has been around since 2007. It was originally an osprey nest that was taken over.<\/p>\n
According to the wildlife cam installation company, property owner Lori Covert \u2014 an avid wildlife enthusiast and conservationist \u2014 hired Window to Wildlife in 2018 to install cameras for private viewing. The next year, it added two more cameras, and installed the osprey camera on the property.<\/p>\n
This season, eagles Connie and Clive hatched one eaglet, Quinn \u2014 which viewers named.<\/p>\n
Connie had laid two eggs, one on Nov. 16 and one on Nov. 19. On Dec. 21, a pip was spotted in one and the hatch watch began. On Dec. 23, viewers welcomed CE14, with still no pip from the other.<\/p>\n
On March 15, Quinn fledged from the nest at 82 days old.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love Connie and Clive. They\u2019ve been incredible parents and such a joy to watch over the years,\u201d Window to Wildlife shared. \u201cEven if we\u2019re not able to get cameras back up right away, we\u2019ll still do our best to share updates from the ground when we can.\u201d<\/p>\n
