Through modern technology they will reunite the band: Palmer with his two bandmates, playing together along with Emerson and Lake, who both passed away in 2016. The show combines video performance of Emerson and Lake from a legendary sold-out Royal Albert Hall ELP show from 1992 with live on-stage performances of Palmer with his own ELP Legacy band. The ELP Legacy band features Palmer along with Paul Bielatowicz and Simon Fitzpatrick.

All the musicians play together in sync to present a complete and authentic Emerson, Lake & Palmer show.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer was an English progressive rock supergroup formed in London in 1970. The band consisted of Keith Emerson of the Nice on keyboards; Greg Lake of King Crimson on vocals, bass, guitar, and producer; and Carl Palmer of Atomic Rooster on drums and percussion. With nine RIAA-certified gold albums in the United States and an estimated 48 million records sold worldwide, they are one of the most popular and commercially successful progressive rock groups of the 1970s, with a musical sound including adaptations of classical music with jazz and symphonic rock elements, dominated by Emerson’s flamboyant use of the Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer and piano. Lake also wrote several acoustic songs for the group.

The band become prominent after performing at the Isle of Wight Festival in August 1970. In their first year, the group signed with E.G. Records, who distributed the band’s records through Island Records in the United Kingdom and Atlantic Records in North America. Their discography includes “Emerson, Lake & Palmer” (1970) and “Tarkus” (1971), “Pictures at an Exhibition” (1971), “Trilogy” (1972), “Brain Salad Surgery” (1973), “Works Volume I” (1977), “Works Volume II” (1977), and “Love Beach” (1978). That signature style has been present through the decades, baked into the grooves of smash hits like 1996’s “Bringing Down the Horse” as well as more recent and exploratory fare like 2012’s “Glad All Over.”

Even so, in recent years, Dylan — the Wallflowers’ founding singer, songwriter and guitarist — has repeatedly stepped outside of his band, first with a pair of more acoustic and rootsy records, 2008’s “Seeing Things” and 2010’s “Women + Country,” and then with the 2018 film “Echo in the Canyon” and the accompanying soundtrack, which saw him collaborate with a host of artists classic and contemporary, from Neil Young and Eric Clapton to Beck and Fiona Apple.

It had been nine long years since fans had heard from the group with whom he first made his mark. Dylan always knew they’d return.

“The Wallflowers is much of my life’s work,” he said. “It’s pretty hard to get a good band name, so if you have one, keep it.”

In 2021, the Wallflowers released “Exit Wounds,” their first new studio effort since 2012’s “Glad All Over.” While the wait was long, the much-anticipated record finds the band’s signature sound — lean, potent and eminently entrancing — intact, even as Dylan surrounds himself with a fresh cast of musicians.

Dylan’s vision has always been the core of the Wallflower’s music. How he chooses to express that vision, however, is what makes a song a Wallflowers song.

“I usually just let the songs tell me what kind of arrangements they need,” he said. “And if they’re asking for full-band electric arrangements, then that’s what the Wallflowers provide. Thomas Morgan Robertson was born in 1958. Best known by the stage name Thomas Dolby, he is an English musician, producer, composer, entrepreneur and teacher. Dolby came to prominence in the 1980s, releasing hit singles including “She Blinded Me with Science” in 1982 and “Hyperactive!” in 1984. He has also worked as a producer and as a session musician.

Dolby is associated with the new wave movement of the early 1980s, a form of pop music incorporating electronic instruments, but Dolby’s work covers a wide range of musical styles and moods distinct from the high-energy pop sound of his few, better-known commercial successes.

In the 1990s, Dolby founded Beatnik, a Silicon Valley software company which developed the polyphonic ringtone software and created the Nokia tune. Its technology was used in more than half a billion cell phones. He was also the music director for TED Conferences. On the faculty at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University since 2014, Dolby leads Peabody’s Music for New Media program, which enrolled its first students in the fall of 2018.

Dolby has received four Grammy nominations, two each in 1984 and 1988.

Music4Life Living Arts Center

A Tale of Two

CLEARWATER — A Tale of Two will perform on Saturday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m., at the Music4Life Living Arts Center, 1204 Rogers St., Clearwater.

Visit wileyhouseconcerts.org.

Combining the best of Americana and blues melodies with timeless Southern storytelling, award winning vocalist Stephanie Adlington and guitarist Aaron Lessard draw influence from the likes of Tom Waits and Ray LaMontagne, along with bedrock artists such as Patsy Cline and Hank Williams Sr. A Tale of Two has opened for notable artists such as Mary Gauthier, Grayson Capps, and Peter Mulvey. Not unlike the artists who inspired them, the duo’s songs frequently dabble in stories of revenge, drinking and feature sinners of all stripes and persuasions.

Oozing an infectious stage presence and chemistry that carries over from the music to the back and forth banter between songs, “A Tale of Two” offers a different kind of Americana — storytelling by a swampy pair of retro raconteurs spinning blues arias with soul, intrigue and power.

Jannus Live

Artikal Sound System

ST.
