JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 “We do what we do every day because we care about you.”<\/p>\n
That’s the message the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office wants to tell the community after releasing body-worn camera video of one of their officers talking a man down from jumping off the Dames Point Bridge in Jacksonville earlier in April.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, April 12, officers were called to the bridge after a man was spotted getting ready to jump.<\/p>\n
Ofc. Antonio Richardson is shown extending his hand to the man, offering to pray for him. Other responding officers are also seen encouraging the man to take Richardson’s hand.<\/p>\n
“Whatever you’re going through, you can get through it,” Richardson is heard telling the man.<\/p>\n
The man then takes Richardson’s hand and the two embrace on the side of the bridge.<\/p>\n
“[The devil] ain’t got you, we got you, alright?” Richardson is heard telling the man.<\/p>\n

Those are the words Officer Antonio Richardson shared with a young man on Sunday, April 12. The young man was on top of the Dames Point Bridge, ready to take his own life.<\/p>\n
