Then I tried to stop, and then he just got me. So after that, I got back up, and I didn’t resist right then and there,” Dade said.Despite that, his family said he was charged with resisting arrest without violence. They allege the deputy used excessive force during the arrest.Dade’s grandmother, Tamika Martel, said the deputy went too far.”I believe once he got him on the ground, once he tackled him, and I feel like he could have just cuffed him from there. He picked him up, and he slammed him ,” Martel said.She worries her grandson could have been badly hurt.”They’re not grown men. They’re children. If he had children, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t want about nobody to treat his children that way,” Martel said.During Saturday night’s takeover, more than 1,000 teenagers descended on Icon Park for a “takeover” event publicized on social media, according to Orange County Sheriff John Mina. In all, 54 deputies responded to the park, and eight other teens, ranging in age from 13 to 16, were arrested. Two deputies also suffered minor injuries.”Hopefully, it’s just a trend that will end at some point because, literally, what do they get out of it? Some people went to jail, so I don’t really see the draw to it. Maybe most mature teenagers will see, ‘Well, I don’t really want to be involved in any of this,'” Mina said. “I’m sure a majority of the kids who went there didn’t go there to cause problems, but a lot of them did.”Mina said some of the charges are serious, including battery, resisting law enforcement, and battery on a law enforcement officer.”To the parents, I would say, invest your life in the lives of your children, know what your children are doing, and monitor their social media as well,” Mina said.The family said the arresting deputy apologized to them about what happened, but they still plan to file a complaint with the sheriff’s office.WESH 2 News reached out to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office about the family’s claims, but had not yet received a response as of Monday night.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
