Encompass rehab names new CEO<\/p>\n
LARGO \u2014 Nolan Willoughby has been appointed chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Largo. The 70-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is located at 901 Clearwater Largo Road N. Willoughby started with Encompass Health Largo in 2022 as the hospital\u2019s controller. He then moved into the associate administrator role and most recently served as interim CEO.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am proud to be part of the Encompass Health Largo team,\u201d Willoughby said. \u201cThe work we do every day for our patients makes a lasting impact. I am committed to building on the strong reputation we have for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.\u201d<\/p>\n
Willoughby brings nine years of experience in hospital operations and finance to the CEO role. In addition to his expertise in accounting and budget management, Willoughby is adept in building key relationships with stakeholders and in leading process improvement.<\/p>\n
Willoughby earned a master\u2019s degree in business administration and a bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting from Morehead State University.<\/p>\n
Poets Live! marks 20 years at Largo library<\/p>\n
The city of Largo recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of Poets Live!, a literary program at Largo Public Library that has brought poetry, learning, and creative expression to the community since 2006.<\/p>\n
Founded by local poet Wayne S. Williams just one year after the current library building opened, Poets Live! is the longest-running adult program at Largo Public Library. Each month, participants gather to share original poetry and explore the work of a featured poet.<\/p>\n
On April 13, the group marked its 20th anniversary with a special celebration at the library. During the event, Assistant Library Director Geri Remming presented Williams with a commemorative award in recognition of his lasting contributions to the program and the Largo community.<\/p>\n
Williams was born in Ohio and moved to Florida in 1966. He joined the city of Largo in 2004 as part of the Communications and Engagement team and served the Largo community for 15 years before retiring. In 2012, he published The Trunk, a collection of poetry inspired by his early life. In 2016, Williams was named the city of Largo\u2019s inaugural Poet Laureate.\u202f<\/p>\n
Commission celebrates National Library Week<\/p>\n
The Largo City Commission celebrated National Library Week during its April 21 meeting to recognize the vital contributions of libraries and library team members in supporting a vibrant, connected community and fostering lifelong learning.<\/p>\n
This year also marks the 110th anniversary of the Largo Public Library, originally founded by the Largo Woman\u2019s Club in 1916.<\/p>\n
Borrower Services Librarian Aileen Valdes shared with the commission the significance of National Library Week and how the Largo Public Library continually seeks to meet the needs and interests of its patrons.
