Billionaire Palantir CEO Alex Karp \u2014 who\u00a0recently made headlines<\/a> for a controversial manifesto posted on X about how the US should adapt to AI\u00a0\u2014 is building a massive waterfront compound in Miami Beach, Gimme Shelter can reveal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Karp has now shelled out almost $75 million on property alone with 265 feet on the water \u2014 joining a group of California titans who appear to be hedging their bets on Florida as the Golden State weighs in on a proposed tax on billionaires<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Karp just shelled out $28.5 million for a waterfront teardown at 29 East San Marino Drive in the Venetian Islands, sources told Gimme Shelter.<\/p>\n

Listing broker Dora Puig, founder of the brokerage firm Luxe Living Realty, declined to comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The property, which sits on a third of an acre \u2014 including 105 feet of water frontage \u2014 features a charming bungalow built in 1935, along with a pool and a dock. <\/p>\n

It stands adjacent to another property with 160 feet of water frontage that Karp purchased for $46 million at 55 East San Marino Drive on San Marino Island last summer. That property was listed by Dina Goldentayer of Douglas Elliman, who also declined Gimme Shelter\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Karp, who bought both properties via anonymous shell companies, was represented by broker Joel Lusky, of\u00a0the Brokerage South Florida Real Estate, in both deals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Multiple sources told Gimme Shelter that Karp plans to build a compound on the adjacent waterfront properties.<\/p>\n

After listing for $30 million on March 16, No. 29 sold eight days later for $28.5 million, according to records.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe property was bought for the land,\u201d a source said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The purchases come as Palantir \u2014 which Karp co-founded with Peter Thiel<\/a> in 2003 \u2014 moved its business headquarters<\/a> from Denver to Aventura, Fla. in February.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thiel, for his part, also owns two adjacent mansions in the Venetian Islands, which he bought for $18 million back in 2020. In December, Thiel also signed a lease for his private investment firm, Thiel Capital, in Wynwood, the trendy tech, arts and design district in Miami.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The two have plenty of wealthy neighbors to share \u2014 and it\u2019s a group of ultra-high-net-worth individuals that keeps growing in Florida.<\/p>\n

In March,\u00a0Gimme Shelter revealed<\/a> that Meta honcho Mark Zuckerberg had purchased a $170 million property\u00a0under construction in Indian Creek, where Jeff Bezos owns property, as does Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.\u00a0<\/p>\n
