The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is rolling out a limited-time benefit for certain travelers at Miami International Airport (MIA) and airports across the country, just as summer travel ramps up.<\/p>\n
In a press release, the agency said the new option comes \u201cjust in time for the start of summer travel and the high school and college graduation season,\u201d when a surge in domestic flights,<\/a> including many<\/a> younger travelers,<\/a> is expected.<\/p>\n The TSA is using the opportunity to promote its TSA PreCheck<\/a> program, which offers travelers \u201ca faster, more seamless airport security experience,\u201d according to Ha Nguyen McNeill, the TSA\u2019s senior official performing the duties of administrator.<\/p>\n A discount for younger travelers<\/p>\n The TSA is rolling out a \u201cspecial discount\u201d aimed at encouraging \u201cthe next generation of travelers to make TSA PreCheck part of their journey\u201d through airport security.<\/p>\n The limited-time promotion, timed to coincide with graduation season, allows eligible applicants to enroll in TSA PreCheck with a $20 discount. The key details of the initiative, called \u201c$20 Take Off,\u201d include:<\/p>\n New TSA PreCheck applicants must be under 30 years old.Applications must be submitted between May 1 and May 31.Eligible travelers can save $20 on their initial five-year membership.<\/p>\n Travelers can enroll at any of the more than 1,300 TSA PreCheck enrollment<\/a> centers nationwide \u2014 including select retail locations, not just airports.<\/p>\n According to the agency, the program is available through three authorized enrollment providers: CLEAR, IDEMIA and Telos.<\/p>\n With the promotion, the cost of enrolling in TSA PreCheck drops to between $56.75 and $65, depending on the provider selected.<\/p>\n Program benefits<\/p>\n The promotion comes as the U.S. prepares for heavy summer travel, driven in part by the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a>, which kicks off June 11 and includes host cities across the country \u2014 including Miami.<\/p>\n TSA PreCheck is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals<\/a> and lawful permanent residents.<\/p>\n However, applicants may be disqualified if they provide incomplete or false information, violate federal security regulations, or have certain criminal convictions or other disqualifying factors.<\/p>\n
