(CBS12)   \u2014 Stuart Mayor Christopher Collins has resigned his post to run for the Martin County Commission District 2 seat.<\/p>\n<p>Collins posted a short video on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1523206256162669\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Facebook <\/a>announcing his candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>The city public information officer says that Collins has resigned, effective immediately. Misti Gurtin tells CBS12 that there is not enough time for the city to hold a special election, so the board may appoint someone to fill Collins&#8217; seat, or they may leave the seat vacant until the next city election. <\/p>\n<p>The page listing Collins as mayor has already been removed from the Stuart city <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stuartfl.gov\/234\/Christopher-Collins-Mayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The city website currently lists Commissioner<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stuartfl.gov\/230\/City-Commission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Sean Reed as mayor<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"STUART, Fla.
