Florida A&M University\u2019s Marching 100\u00a0performed\u00a0\u201cDon\u2019t\u00a0Stop\u00a0\u2018Til\u00a0You Get Enough\u201d\u00a0to celebrate\u00a0legacy,\u00a0artistry\u00a0and culture\u00a0ahead of\u00a0the new Michael Jackson Film \u2018Michael.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0band\u00a0was filmed in Bragg\u00a0Memorial\u00a0Stadium\u00a0making various formations, those that included\u00a0the words\u00a0\u201cKING\u00a0of POP\u201d and \u201cMJ.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

This promotional video\u00a0released\u00a0Feb. 24 during\u00a0Black History Month, highlighting\u00a0the\u00a0combination of\u00a0historically Black colleges and universities\u00a0culture and\u00a0tradition, and the King of Pop\u2019s artistry\u00a0and\u00a0how they mirror one another.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FAMU was the first\u00a0of\u00a04\u00a0Historically Black\u00a0Colleges and\u00a0Universities\u00a0to\u00a0have their video posted\u00a0for the campaign.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dr. Ralph Jean-Paul, the lower brass instructor for the Marching 100,\u00a0said\u00a0being inquisitive is the foundation for\u00a0creating an identity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing\u00a0inquisitive allowed\u00a0[Michael]\u00a0to be\u00a0very innovative in his approach so that [creates] an identity,\u201d Jean-Paul said. \u201cSo,\u00a0all the\u00a0identities\u00a0that he was able to do\u00a0stapled Michael Jackson,\u00a0the way he sung, his lyrics, his song\u00a0writing, his [movements], his energy\u00a0\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dr. William\u00a0Patrick Foster\u00a0founded\u00a0the\u00a0Marching\u00a0100\u00a0in 1946, with the goal of\u00a0having a reputable\u00a0100-member\u00a0band.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Foster had this dream\u00a0to\u00a0have\u00a0a reputable band\u00a0because of his\u00a0oppositions, so he was able to get his technique and figure out what he wanted to do,\u201d Jean-Paul said. \u201cSo,\u00a0it\u2019s about innovation and giving an identity, and I think Michael Jackson really\u00a0had an\u00a0identity incongruent with the Marching 100.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Marching\u00a0100\u00a0has performed\u00a0at many\u00a0high-profile\u00a0events\u00a0such as\u00a0multiple\u00a0Super\u00a0Bowls, the\u00a02006\u00a0GRAMMYs\u00a0and\u00a0the 2022 Louis Vuitton Men\u2019s Spring- Summer fashion show in Paris.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Band member, Maritza Wiggins said that the Marching 100\u2019s reputation is what\u00a0brings in these calls to\u00a0participate\u00a0in high profile events.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 100 holds itself\u00a0to a very high standard,\u201d said Wiggins. \u201cPeople want to work with the 100 because of the fact that they can also represent\u00a0what they stand for in that same high regard.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Band members like Jaylen Bain have expressed their gratitude\u00a0in\u00a0being a part of this moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
