He said one bullet went through the rapper’s lung, heart and aorta, before going through the left side of his chest, where it was recovered.

Another bullet, Reilly said, hit Jones’ left kidney and left lung. According to Reilly, Jones lost around two liters of blood from one gunshot wound.

Jones was a well-known, prominent member of a Jacksonville gang. Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy and Rashad Murphy each face a first-degree murder charge, which carries a mandatory life sentence, in connection to his death.

Prosecutors said the rapper’s murder is part of an “ongoing gang war” in Jacksonville.

Prosecutors also said earlier in the trial that Chance and the Murphys are members of gangs that rival Jones’.

Guns galore

Jurors also heard on Thursday testimonies from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives about evidence they seized from Gathright’s home and the vehicle he was stopped in when he was arrested.

JSO Gang Unit Detective Craig Griffin testified that on June 26, 2024, around 2:54 p.m., he conducted a traffic stop on Gathright, who was driving a Toyota 4Runner. He said the vehicle was searched, as items seized inside included a Glock handgun in the center console, and a duffel bag with ammunition and multiple “gun parts.”

JSO Detective Steve Johnson provided in his testimony that when he processed the vehicle, he found and pictured a gun stock, several gun magazines, optics, ammunition boxes, holsters and magazine holsters all inside. He said nine .223 caliber shell casings also were found, as well as live 9mm rounds.

The following day, on June 26, 2024, Johnson said that while assisting in serving a search warrant at Chance’s home, .223 caliber live rounds were found inside the home, as well as a pistol with an extended magazine inside a nightstand drawer in a bedroom.

While assisting in serving a search warrant at Gathright’s home the same day, JSO crime scene detective Summer Dees testified photographing a “ballistic” mask and vest inside the home, the kitchen sink filled with ripped up cardboard pieces of a firearms box, multiple different types of live ammunition inside boxes in a hallway closet, and a gun safe.

Within the gun safe, Dees testified photographing several items, including one rifle with a brass catcher attached and adhesive tape on the grip, which Dees said was cut off and preserved for DNA to be collected. Dees said a second rifle and more brass catchers were also found. Prosecutors had stated earlier in the trial that two of the shooters in the murder used rifles with brass catchers.

The state capped off day six of the trial Thursday by presenting to jurors a surveillance video of JSO detectives interviewing Davion Murphy following his arrest on Jan. 6, 2025.

Murphy told detectives during the interview that he traveled from Orlando to Tampa on the day of Jones’ murder, while denying traveling from Jacksonville to Tampa to commit the murder as prosecutors allege.

A detective responded, showing Murphy his appearance on Ring doorbell footage at a Tampa Airbnb on the day of Jones’ murder at an earlier time than he suggested he arrived in the city from Orlando. Another detective interviewing Murphy added that they knew he made a purchase at a gas station in Jacksonville in June prior to Jones’ death.

When seeing reports about the rapper’s killing, Murphy told detectives during the interview, “I can’t say I ain’t rejoice.”

The trial is set to continue at noon on Monday with prosecutors calling more witnesses to testify, including a victim of the shooting and friend of Jones, as well as a DNA analyst. Prosecutors said they then intend on presenting evidence regarding “gang membership” on Tuesday, and potentially resting their case on Wednesday.

Dr. Noah Reilly, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on the Jacksonville rapper, testified that a bullet…

[8
116,118,117
post-253362","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-jacksonville","tag-jacksonville","tag-jacksonville-headlines","tag-jacksonville-news
["GET
