The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.71 per share.<\/p>\n
The auto retailer posted revenue of $6.55 billion in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.66 billion.<\/p>\n
AutoNation shares have risen roughly 3% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P’s 500 index has climbed slightly more than 5%. The stock has climbed 22% in the last 12 months.<\/p>\n
