{"id":253830,"date":"2026-05-01T11:56:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T11:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/253830\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T11:56:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T11:56:17","slug":"lake-nona-west-to-open-first-stores-in-may-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/253830\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake Nona West to open first stores in May, June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After more than a year of construction, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.growthspotter.com\/2025\/05\/15\/tavistock-releases-tenant-lineup-for-lake-nona-west\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Nona West<\/a> will welcome its first shoppers in just a few weeks with the opening of Homesense.<\/p>\n<p>The 25,000-square-foot home decor superstore will open in mid-May, according to Joanne Ling, leasing director for <a href=\"https:\/\/tavistockdevelopment.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tavistock Development Co.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then following them, about a few weeks later in the middle of June, you\u2019ll see Barnes &amp; Noble open, and then Total Wine &amp; More about a week later,\u201d Ling said on Tuesday during a sneak peek of the lifestyle center.<\/p>\n<p>With 405,000 square feet of retail and dining, Lake Nona West is the second-largest shopping center to be built in Florida in the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>The center\u2019s anchor, a 150,000-square-foot Target Superstore, will open in July, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.growthspotter.com\/2025\/08\/22\/dicks-sporting-goods-latest-retailer-signed-for-lake-nona-west\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy.<\/a> They will be followed in August with the opening of Nordstrom Rack.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Roundabouts direct the flow of traffic to the various entrances...\" class=\"size-article_inline\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/TGS-L-Lake-Nona-West-0428-12.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Roundabouts direct the flow of traffic to the various entrances around the new Lake Nona West shopping center, being developed by Tavistock on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. (Rich Pope\/Orlando Sentinel)\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd those openings will roll through phases through the end of the year through the fall and even some early into 2027, depending on how fast they can get up and down on their buildouts,\u201d Ling said.<\/p>\n<p>Ling said the 405,000-square-foot shopping center features a curated blend of national retailers and local businesses designed to bring people back to the center multiple times per week \u201cfor dining, shopping, or just to linger a little longer throughout our walkways and our common spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tavistock Vice President Jessi Blakley said the architecture, landscaping and public art will create an \u201celevated experience\u201d for shoppers, whether they\u2019re planning a date night or making a Target run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we all visit many shopping centers here in Central Florida. And when you come to Lake Nona, it is apparent when you\u2019re in Lake Nona,\u201d Blakely said. \u201cThe widened streets, the bike lanes, the mobility improvements, like the roundabouts out front, the elevated landscaping, the murals, the artwork, the walkability. So, all of these things I think play into what makes coming to a retail experience here unique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The public art program, led by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chalkandbrushdesignco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.chalkandbrushdesignco.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1777476716519000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3eM_IJRFIrdcNRcqhGW3o2\">Chalk &amp; Brush<\/a>, will bring 30 murals to Lake Nona West, reflecting the character, natural landscape and evolving identity of the community. Founded by Cuban-born artist Cinthia \u201cCynno\u201d Santos, the Miami-based studio is known for bold, graphic murals commissioned by brands like Spotify and Starbucks that often become local landmarks. (Rich Pope\/Orlando Sentinel)<\/p>\n<p>An entire wall-sized mural with the message, \u201cGreetings from Lake Nona West,\u201d complete with some of the community\u2019s signature artistic elements, like The Glass House and Disco sculpture, is visible from Lake Nona Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>One of the last murals to go up is in an inner courtyard, meant to be a gathering space and entrance for the two largest restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>With the message, \u201cWish You Were Here,\u201d it was meant to be an Instagrammable moment. Santos said she originally designed it with similar imagery, repeating the themes of technology, water, flora and fauna. (Rich Pope\/Orlando Sentinel)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So she redesigned the mural with the smiling face and wagging tongue of Bella, her beloved Yorkie-Beagle mix who died last year just before she started the mural project. \u201cShe used to come with me while I painted and just hung out,\u201d Santos said.<\/p>\n<p>Just off the activity plaza, diners will be able to enter Tavistock\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/canonita.com\/\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/canonita.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ca\u00f1onita<\/a> Mexican restaurant, which is nearly 8,000 square feet and slated to open in the Fourth Quarter.
