(WCTV) &#8211; A portion of Alabama Street has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2025\/10\/25\/city-tallahassee-designate-street-rev-dr-james-aaron-clausell-rev-dr-bernyce-hall-clausell\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2025\/10\/25\/city-tallahassee-designate-street-rev-dr-james-aaron-clausell-rev-dr-bernyce-hall-clausell\/\">a new honorary name of \u2018Clausell Family Memorial Way,\u2019<\/a> which the city of Tallahassee unveiled Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The street sign honors the late Dr. James A. Clausell and his wife, Rev. Dr. Bernyce Hall Clausell. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Aaronetta Clausell Frison, daughter of the couple, said it was a great honor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMany people do great things, and they don\u2019t ever get a thank you. But this- it\u2019s just so surreal. It says it all. Love, thank you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More Tallahassee news:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The two were a power couple during the civil rights era in the Griffin Heights neighborhood, per a press release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They founded Calvary Baptist Church with their own funds on Joe Louis Street in the 1950s. The Clausells also worked with C.K. Steele to support black communities during trying times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The family said the Alabama Street honorary designation was perfect as the family is originally from Alabama.
