Stephen Livingston, a Traumatic Brain Injury<\/a> survivor, met with the trauma surgeon, Dr. Michael Parra<\/a>, and the orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bradley Roth<\/a>, who helped to save his life. <\/p>\n

Livingston, 22, of Plantation, was celebrating on Friday at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale after surviving the TBI, bone fractures, and internal injuries. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe first time I came here, I was wheeled in through the back door on a stretcher,\u201d Livingston said about March 2025. \u201cWalking up those stairs this morning, through the main entrance, just felt great.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a car crash, Livingston was in the intensive care unit in a coma with brain bleeding and swelling. About two weeks later, his condition suddenly worsened due to pressure on the swelling brain, according to BHMC. <\/p>\n

Parra performed emergency surgery to remove a large portion of the right side of his skull, which relieved the pressure. Weeks later, as his condition improved, Parra placed it back, according to BHMC. <\/p>\n

\u201cSteven is an example of why we do this,\u201d Parra said. <\/p>\n

Roth helped Livingston with orthopedic surgeries that have helped him to continue to make impressive strides in recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was absolutely amazing to see him like that,\u201d Roth said. \u201cAnd every subsequent visit, I saw him, he was stronger and stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their meeting at the auditorium marked the National Trauma Awareness Month<\/a>. Steven had his chance to stand and say, \u201cThank you for all your love and support, and I love you guys too.\u201d <\/p>\n
