ST. PETERSBURG, FL \u2014 An Edge District barbershop near Tropicana Field is joining the Tampa Bay Rays’ \u201cBack in the Burg\u201d promotion with baseball-themed cuts and styling specials.<\/p>\n
Floyd\u2019s 99 Barbershop, part of the Moxy Hotel, at 1200 Central Ave., is offering several Rays-inspired options for fans heading to home games.<\/p>\n
The promotion includes the Ray-Hawk, which features shaved sides finished with gel, and the Ray-Zor, an elevated cut with a full styling experience, the shop said.<\/p>\n
Floyd\u2019s also offers the \u201cShow Me Your Colors\u201d look, which includes temporary blue hair spray and styling for kids and adults. The temporary color option is available only two hours before home games, Friday through Sunday.<\/p>\n
Franchise owner Stephanie Noyes, born in New Hampshire, was one of four sisters.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad always wanted a son and didn\u2019t get one,\u201d she told Patch. \u201cSo, we all grew up watching sports.\u201d<\/p>\n
Specifically, New England teams, Noyes added.<\/p>\n
The family\u2019s love for teams from the Northeast stayed strong even after they moved to St. Petersburg when she was 4-year-old. But they also adopted their new hometown teams, as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe became Bucs fans and when the Rays started, big Rays fans,\u201d Noyes said. \u201cAnd my husband\u2019s family has had season tickets since day one with the Rays, since they were the Devil Rays.\u201d<\/p>\n
They were excited to open Floyd\u2019s just around the block from the stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo us, it was perfect, especially getting into the Moxy Hotel. It all fits our vibe. We\u2019re also very music-centered,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Like many, Noyes was saddened by the Rays’ temporary move to George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa last season after Hurricane Milton tore the roof of Tropicana Field.<\/p>\n
Now, with the roof rebuilt and the team’s return to St. Petersburg this season, she\u2019s excited to welcome them back.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith what happened with the Rays, when they lost the stadium, we definitely missed having it around,\u201d Noyes said. \u201cAnd obviously, there\u2019s a lot of buzz going around. Now that they\u2019re back in the \u2018Burg\u2019, we definitely wanted to get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Rays-inspired styles fit well with Floyd\u2019s, which already regularly offers mohawks to its clients.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought it would be a lot of fun and then we decided to throw in the spray color in blue on home-game weekends,\u201d she said. \u201cWe wanted to have fun with it and show the Rays our support. We\u2019re big in the community and love to support the community any way we can.\u201d<\/p>\n
