After 34 years, the South Florida-based carrier shut down over the weekend following <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmiami.com\/spirit-shutdown-what-south-florida-travelers-should-know\/\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmiami.com\/spirit-shutdown-what-south-florida-travelers-should-know\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_0\" data-category=\"click_internal\">ongoing financial struggles and rising oil prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But if you relied on Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) as your gateway to ultra affordable fares, don\u2019t panic! JetBlue has announced it is expanding its operations and introducing a loyalty status match program to fill the gap left by Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>New routes for South Florida travelers<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement, JetBlue is launching 11 new nonstop routes from Fort Lauderdale while increasing flight frequencies on several existing routes. This includes entirely new connections to Baltimore, Charlotte, Indianapolis and even Cali and Barranquilla in Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>They are also connecting FLL to existing JetBlue cities like Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago and Ponce in PR. By summer, the low-cost carrier headquartered in New York will be running nearly 130 flights a day out of FLL \u2014 a 75% increase from last year.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/randolph-rojas-wzqy7QxiB8g-unsplash-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Spirit plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport\" class=\"wp-image-56465\"  \/>Unsplash\/Randolph Rojas<\/p>\n<p>Status match for displaced fliers<\/p>\n<p>Because Spirit\u2019s sudden shutdown left travelers scrambling to make other plans, JetBlue is offering a limited-time loyalty status match.
