{"id":258555,"date":"2026-05-05T00:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T00:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/258555\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T00:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T00:30:12","slug":"spirit-airlines-said-many-customers-have-been-refunded-after-airline-shutdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/258555\/","title":{"rendered":"Spirit Airlines said many customers have been refunded after airline shutdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Spirit Airlines announced that most of its customers have been refunded with flight tickets after the airline <a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/nation-world\/spirit-shutdown-fl-based-budget-airline-ceases-operations-after-failed-federal-buyout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced it was closing down.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The airline is still processing a \u201csmall percentage\u201d of refunds for customers, sources from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/spirit-airlines-customer-refunds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spirit told CBS News.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The airline said refunds would be automatically processed for flights that were purchased with a credit card or a debit card.<\/p>\n<p>Spirit Airlines announced over the weekend that it would be <a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/americas-news-now\/vote-should-your-tax-dollars-go-toward-bailing-out-struggling-airlines-spirit-airlines-trump-administration-federal-government-assistance-jetblue-airtravel-transportation-secretary-sean-duffy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ceasing operations<\/a> after the company failed to get a $500 million federal bailout.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is with great disappointment that on May 2, 2026, Spirit Airlines started an orderly wind-down of our operations, effective immediately,&#8221; Spirit Airlines posted in a statement. \u201cTo our Guests: all flights have been cancelled, and customer service is no longer available.
