FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)\u2014A jury found Thomas Stein guilty of first-degree felony murder and three counts of attempted robbery with a firearm.<\/p>\n
The jury took five hours to decide. Everyone was called back into the courtroom at around 8:30 p.m. with the verdict.<\/p>\n
Stein’s family cried behind WINK News reporters, with his mom running out of the courtroom. Christopher Horne’s family\u2014the other suspect in the murder\u2014left and celebrated in the hallway.<\/p>\n
At one point, people could hear them yelling while Judge Nick Thompson was talking. From inside, someone could be heard screaming “guilty.”<\/p>\n
WINK News crews were in the hallway and saw Horne’s family celebrating after the verdict. When asked for comment, Stein’s attorney declined to speak.<\/p>\n
While the jury did find Stein guilty, they could not say with 100% certainty that he was the shooter who killed Miller two years ago. The State Attorney’s Office, the Cape Coral Police Chief and the victim’s families did not want to comment.<\/p>\n
Stein’s sentencing is set for July 10. Horne’s sentencing is scheduled for May 19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FORT MYERS, Fla.
