A U.S. Secret Service<\/a> officer was arrested in Miami<\/a> on a charge of indecent exposure while off-duty, authorities said Monday. <\/p>\n The officer, John Spillman, had earlier worked on exterior security screening for President Donald Trump<\/a>‘s appearance Sunday at the PGA Tour<\/a>‘s Cadillac Championship, which was being held at the Trump National Doral<\/a>.<\/p>\n Spillman was held at the Miami-Dade County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 bond on Monday, online jail records showed.<\/p>\n The 33-year-old has been placed on administrative leave from the Secret Service, the agency said.<\/p>\n Zoom In IconArrows pointing outwards<\/p>\n US Secret Service Officer John Spillman, booking photo, Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Department<\/p>\n Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Department<\/p>\n The incident involving Spillman occurred at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center on Sunday night, according to WSVN-7 News Miami, which cited an arrest report by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n Earlier in the day, Trump watched from a tent near the 18th hole at his golf club as players completed the final round of the Cadillac Championship.<\/p>\n Spillman was part of a detail that provided exterior security screening for the event.<\/p>\n According to WSVN-7 News, hotel guests told investigators they were in the lobby around midnight when Spillman followed up. They later reported seeing “the defendant masturbating next to their hotel room,” the station reported.<\/p>\n Security personnel later found “the defendant with his pants lowered and masturbating on the sixth floor,” the report said.<\/p>\n The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment by CNBC.<\/p>\n Read more CNBC politics coverage<\/p>\n Richard Macauley, chief of the U.S. Secret Service Police, in a statement sent to CNBC, said the agency was aware of the arrest of an off-duty Secret Service officer by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n “The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel,” Macauley said. <\/p>\n “This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; consequently, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation,” he said.<\/p>\n The arrest of Spillman came more than a week after Secret Service officers arrested a California man, Cole Tomas Allen<\/a>, who allegedly shot an officer while forcing his way through a checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel, a floor above where Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner<\/a>. <\/p>\n That officer was not seriously injured, as his protective vest stopped the gunshot, authorities have said. Allen is charged with trying to assassinate Trump.<\/p>\n
